KidsPages.org welcomes submissions from free-lance writers. We emphasize stories with a local focus and prefer to work with local established writers. We occasionally use reprints of articles from publications outside our region.

Queries are accepted on an ongoing basis.

We run several monthly feature articles on a wide range of family related topics. Features require thorough research, knowledge of our audience and concise interviewing and writing skills. We ask writers to use the best experts on a subject--national and local. We prefer articles that are positive and upbeat with local relevancy. Word counts for articles vary from 500 to 1,000 words. It is our goal to respond to all queries; however, due to the volume that we receive, this may not be possible.

We love to do local sidebars to articles. For example, if we get an article on great camping advice, we do a sidebar on where to camp locally, the costs and kids; programs. The articles can't be self-serving, we don't publish infomercials.

Submitting Articles

Articles should be e-mailed, preferably as a MS Word document. Manuscripts should include the author's name, address, e-mail and daytime phone number on the first page of the story. Include the word count with the article. The editor has unrestricted editing rights. If major revisions are needed, you will be contacted.

Accompanying photographs are welcome.

If you prefer to submit the full article on speculation, that is fine, but there is no guarantee of publication.

We usually buy one-time print rights with exclusivity within Colorado for one year. Reprints of articles from publications outside our region are also considered. Writers are free to sell their work after we publish it.

E-mail all queries and articles to editor@kidspages.org.
