Kids' Pages Executive Director Receives
Prestigious Awards

Recently, Kids' Pages Executive Director Ellen Blair received two prestigious awards for her dedication to helping disadvantaged youth in the Denver metro area.

Above and Beyond Award

Ellen was selected as the sole honoree in Colorado for the Above and Beyond Citizen Honor, the most prestigious civilian award in America! Above and Beyond is a highly visible public platform built upon the foundations of Abraham Lincoln and the Medal of Honor he created in 1861.

To be considered for this rare civilian honor, nominees must have made a difference in the lives of others through a singular act of extraordinary heroism, or through their continued commitment of putting others before themselves.

Ellen is honored for "going above and beyond in providing hope for disadvantaged children in the Denver metro area. Since founding Kids' Pages 14 years ago, she has never taken a dollar for herself or been on a set schedule."

7Everyday Hero

On a local level, Ellen was recently surprised at the Kids' Pages office when Mitch Jelniker of 7News stopped by to present her with the 7Everyday Hero award. Again, Ellen was recognized for her selflessness and devotion to Denver area youth. Kids' Pages magazine became a nonprofit in 2002, and since then the organization has given out one million dollars worth of new clothing, sports scholarships, coats, glasses, medical care, and dental care to about 10,000 local children.
